When you embark on changing anything in your life you have to start from where you are. Until you know where that is it would be difficult to effectively make the change. You have to start with a baseline. Motivation can take you far, but it can take you even further if you first find your vision.

Just last year they went to Niagara falls while I was at my moms for the weekend and when I asked my step mom why she didn't invite me she said it was because it was their anniversary and they wanted it to be kid-free.
