It needs fifty percent or 15 assemblies to approve for getting Presidential assent

It will replace most of the Central and State indirect taxes such as Value-added Tax (VAT), Excise Duty. Service Tax, Central Sales Tax, Additional Customs Duty and Special Additional Duty of Customs. It would change the Indian tax structure and pave the way for modernization of tax administration.
